Hijack This Log- thanks for your help!

Question

I removed Limewire and ran a scan using ad-aware, but the program did not detect anything (just tracker cookies, which is normal) and the pop-ups keep coming. I also have pop-up blocker on interent explorer enabled. The pop-ups started yesterday after I dowloaded a couple programs from limewire that were supposed to be serial keys for paint shop pro X. I ran the files and then since none of them worked I deleted them from my computer. I think the files were infected with trojans but I don't know which files to delete.   I keep getting tons of popups and my antivirus (pc-chillin) keeps detecting trojans but cannot quarantine them.   Thanks for your help! 1. You are currently running Hijackthis from a Temp file.

Hijackthis creates backup's that we may need, which could be lost or deleted easily from a temp location

Please move Hijackthis to it's own folder, It can be done by

Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C:
then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT. Then Move Hijackthis.exe into that folder

2. Re Run Hijackthis

At the Main window select " Open the misc tool section"
Then select " Open uninstall manager"
Then " save list" and save it to your desktop

Copy and paste that list as a reply to this thread

No Problem

1. Reboot your PC into Safe Mode
This can be done by

Restart your PC, and after it starts, but before you see the Windows Splash screen
Begin tapping the F8 key twice a second untill you reach another menu screen (black background with white menu choices)
Use your arrow keys and select Safe Mode and then Enter

2. Go To Add/Remove Programs (Click Start->>Control Panel->>Add/Remove Programs)
And uninstall the following programs

Internet Service Offers Launcher
IpWins
Outerinfo
WildTangent Web Driver

Close Add/Remove Programs->>Reboot your PC into Normal Windows Mode

3. Go here and download Purity Scan Uninstaller

4. Please run the Purity scan Uninstaller
If you have any problems a Tutorial can be found here

5. Reboot your PC->>Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh log

I was able to uninstall all programs except Internet Service Offers Launcher. I also keep getting messages that a trojan virus has been found on my computer. I have quarantined and deleted all folders. The last place a trojan was found was in my system volume information folder.

1. Copy and paste the following into NotePad (Not Wordpad)

sc stop "COM+ Messages"
sc delete "COM+ Messages"

Click File ->> Save as ->>type in cmd.bat

Under "Save as type" Select " all files" ->>Save it to your Desktop
Close Notepad
The cmd.bat file should now appear on your Desktop
Double Click that file (It will appear that nothing has happened, but that's o.k.)

2. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place checks beside the following entries

3. Using Windows Explorer

(Right click on "Start," select "Explore," and you will see the "tree' of file folders in the left side of the window. Click on the "+" next to any folder name to expand its contents)

Locate and Delete the following folders

C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\{34CFB~1 <<_It should translate C:\Program Files\Common files\ and start with{34CFB...}

Close Windows explorer->>Reboot your PC

4. Please perform an Ewido Online Malware Scan

When a dialog box appears asking you if you would like to download and install the ewido anti-spyware online scanner please click Yes to allow the download.
Click on Start Scan.
after the scan completes i twill produce a log for you, copy and paste the results of that scan as a reply to this thread
If any infections are found, (After you save the logfile), Click on Remove Infections.

Your reply should include

a fresh Hijackthis log
your logfile from the AVG online scan

Disable and Enable System Restore

Lets create a clean System Restore point

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:

Download the latest version of
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.0.
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the " Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: " Accept License Agreement".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Make your Internet Explorer more secure
This can be done by following these simple instructions:

Open Internet Explorer click Tools->> Options.
Click Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click Custom Level.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
When all these settings have been made, click OK.
If it prompts you to save the settings, press Yes.
Next press Apply and then OK to exit the Internet Properties page
