How Do I Check For Worms In My Computer?

How do I check for WORMS in my computer. I have the SYMANTEC VIRUS PROTECTION, but have been told that a WORM and a VIRUS are two separate things.

My Virus Protection says I am OK, but I want to search for WORMS, too.
