In add/remove programs "Mcafee Uninstaller" is the way it shows up. If you want to remove Mcafee that is the program you use.

Before you try to remove it:

You must be signed in as administrator in Mcafee

And second, you must turn the program off before it will allow you to remove it.

Rt click on Mcafee Icon to open - virusscan - disable.

I would reccommend that you download and install any replacement antivirus protection before you remove McAfee

I have tried to remove mine and all I get is the Uninstaller popping up , with a statement:

In order to uninstall McAfee Security Center, you need to uninstall all McAfee Security Services first.

 

Any help.

Well, I disable the virus scan. I turn off the service. I try to kill the process and it will not let me (thanks for protecting me from myself!) and it keeps saying I cannot uninstall because virus scan is running.

I'm curious, it's a piece of software that I cannot make stop, and it keeps irritating me with those little pop up text bubbles. How is this different from a non-destructive virus?

I can't uninstall my McAfee either. I don't have "Mcafee Uninstaller" of my change/remove, or anywhere on my computer. When I try any component ie virusScan the McAfee Application installer freezes. Turning the program makes no difference. Any suggestions?

(Ignore the entries/files and folders, which you are unable to locate or delete).

This is annoying, I try the add/remove for mcafee and it gives me this msg:

The installation cannot be continued because some components (C:\[progra~1\mcafee.com\agent\uninstall\screm.ui) are missing. I have tried to reinstall to see if I could get the file doesnt work.. please help?
