Inspiron 6400

when i start up my inspiron 6400 it first tells me that an application has failed to initialize , an explorer application. Then Mcaffee tells me that a suspicious file has been found and it advises me to do a virus scan. i proceed to click ok , however the same message reappears after a minute or so .
