INSPIRON 8100 - Touchpad quit working

After have installed a new hard drive in my Dell Inspiron 8100 the touchpad is not longer working. I have reinstalled the driver, the mouse works fine but the touchpad controls config are gray out and the pad just won't work.

Having  "air dusted" the board before installing the new HD could it disconnect it ?

Appreciate any advice.

Are you sure you installed the Synaptics TouchPad Driver?

If you're sure about the driver I suppose it is possible that something may have become loose inside. You can take a few things apart and examine the connections.

Here's a guide with pictures to make it easier: Inspiron 8100

Thanks. I was looking into that.

Although, do you happen to know which cable and where is located the one for the touchpad? Is it the rest palms cable?

Appreciate your help

The touchpad cable is mentioned with the instructions for removing the palm rest assembly. After you remove the screws on the underside it says something about the palm rest flex cable in the removal instructions.
