Hi there damian06913

Please download Vundofix by atribune

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Place a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
When VundoFix re-opens,Click Scan for Vundo button.
Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
Copy & Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kbdddr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rdddbk.*

Click Add Files and Click Close Window
Click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.

Once complete please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Hi there, looking much better this time around. Vundo should have produced a log with a list of the file entries it deleted. I can see from the log that the main brunt of the infection has been taken out so we will carry on from there

WeatherBug is a system tray icon that offers weather information and includes built-in ads. WeatherBug is controlled by AWS Convergence Technologies (weatherbugmedia.com).
There is some controversy over whether WeatherBug should be targeted by anti-parasite software. AWS strongly deny their software is spyware, and by the definition used here, it is not, as it does not leak information back to its controlling servers.
However, WeatherBug has in the past been silently installed by the FavoriteMan parasite and Freeze.com screensavers, and more recently has been bundled by software such as AIM and Blubster. This makes it unsolicited, and since it is installed to raise money for its creators through the built-in ads it is certainly commercial. So it does meet the definition for parasite: unsolicited commercial software. It is nonetheless listed as a borderline case because it is not overtly harmful and many people do install it deliberately.
WeatherBug bundles the MySearch parasite in its standalone distribution and has in the past, installed Gator and SVAPlayer.

PowerRegScheduler
You have PowerReg Scheduler in your log. This is a registration reminder that is used by a number of different companies. It is not needed and some people think that it reports back to the company about your computer, so I suggest fixing it.

Viewpoint Manager

Viewpoint components are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Players components. You can disable this using the Viewpoint Manager Control Panel found in the Windows Control Panel menu. By selecting "Disable auto-updating for the Viewpoint Manager" -- the player will no longer attempt to check for updates. Anything that is installed without your consent is suspect. Read what Viewpoint says and make your own decision.

Quote:To provide a satisfying consumer experience and to operate effectively, the Viewpoint Media Player periodically sends information to servers at Viewpoint. Each installation of the Viewpoint Media Player is identifiable to Viewpoint via a Customer Unique Identifier (CUID), an alphanumeric identifier embedded in the Viewpoint Media Player. The Viewpoint Media Player randomly generates the CUID during installation and uses it to indicate a unique installation of the product. A CUID is never connected to a user's name, email address, or other personal contact information. CUIDs are used for the sole purpose of filtering redundant information. Each of these information exchanges occurs anonymously.

I recommend that you remove these products; however, decide for yourself.

Open HJT by double clicking on the icon and select the second button entitled "do a system scan only".
Make sure you close any windows that are open or minumised

Now select the followng entries by placing a tick in the left hand check box

Hi there

Theres a couple of lines in your HJT log that I want to check out further.. I want you to run a scan with a tool called smitfraud

First of all we need to grab a couple of tools..
Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop.
Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder
Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter
This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. When it is done, the results of the scan will be displayed and it will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along in your next reply.

Hi there ide like you to run a full scan with ewido..

May I suggest that you either print out these instructions or save them as a text file with Notepad or your default text editor to your desktop as we will be restarting into Safe Mode during the fix

Make sure you have the latest verison of ewido.... If you have an earlier version then please uninstall it first
Download Ewido Anti-Malware:
Close all other Applications Select language click Ok
Click I Agree
Click next
Click Install
Click Finish
Wait Ewido will open main screen automatically.
Wait again a few minutes and Ewido Should Auto update itself. If it doesn't click update at top of screen.
This in very important to get updates
When updating has finished. Close Ewido. Do not scan yet

Please re-start your computer in safe mode - You may want to print the rest of these instructions from here onwards
To do so, reboot your computer and repeatedly tap the F8 whilst your computer is booting up (just before the MS Windows flag screen appears) until a menu appears. Once you see the menu select the option to start the computer in safe mode. (It might take more than go to access the menu if you have not done this before, just simply reboot the machine again and repeat the steps)

Open Ewido
Click on scanner top of Ewido sceen
Click on Settings
Under How to Act click on Recommended Action choose Quarantine
Under How to scan all boxes should be selected
Under Possibly unwanted software all boxes should be selected
On right side under Reports: click on Automatically generate report after every scan.
Under What to scan select scan every file
Click On scan Tab
Click on Complete system scan
Let the program scan the machine It can take awhile give it time.
When scan has finished At bottom of screen click Apply all Actions
Click Save report
Click Save Report as (Save as window's screen should pop up.)
Click desktop
Click Save
Exit ewido

Now reboot your computer and post a fresh HJT log along with the results from the ewido scan

Hi there damian06913,

I can see some reminants of an infection called spy sheriff in your log, lets give it a clear out.......

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be available to you at certain points of the removal process (while in Safe Mode) . Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes. We will be using the smitfraud tool for this which we downloaded earler, if for any reason you deleted the tool then please download it again from the link provided earler in the post

Download Ccleaner from HERE

1. Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
2. Select your language and click OK, then next.
3. Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
4. Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
Once Done Close ccleaner, do not scan just yet

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : " Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question " Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Now double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
On the " Windows" tab, under " Internet Explorer", uncheck " Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. ( If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for " Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
Click on " Options" at the top of the window, then click on the " advanced" button.
Deselect " Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours". Click on " OK".
Click Run Cleaner to run the program.

Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.

After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit

Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
Click on Scanner
Click on Settings
Under How to scan all boxes should be checked
Under Unwanted Software all boxes should be checked
Under What to scan select Scan every file
Click on Ok
Click on Complete System Scan to start the scan process.
Let the program scan the machine.
If Ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says Perform action on all infections and put a checkmark in the box next to Create encrypted backup, then choose clean and click Ok.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
Click Save Report button
Save the report to your Desktop
Close Ewido and Reboot in Normal Mode.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter.
Answer Yes to the question " Restore Trusted Zone ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

It would not let me put the other one on because it contains 'BBSS'
 
Note the word was actually minus one of each letter.    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hi there

Can you send the ewido log replacing the bad letters with stars ****
The virus that you see on your computer is inside your system restore, this is not a problem, once you are free from malware we will be flushing out the restore points and resetting them :)
