Internet Explorer popup and warning

Hi,

My internet explorer has been popping up and directed to some unwanted sites when I open the "my pictures" folder. Sometimes it would also do this when I open a new IE window.

Also I sometimes get an IE warning dialog saying "There has been a security breach by the Blackworm virus. We recommend you DOWNLOAD one of the security softwares to prevent further malware infections."  When I clicked OK an IE window opens and displays this site: http://www.amaena.com/securityworm2/?aid=am2&lid=hotmail

I still have the trend-micro pc-cillin internet software that came with the machine and it has been running with updated definitions. I manually scanned the computer but it didn't find any virus. I also used Adaware and other softwares to detect adware/spyware but came up short.

Does anyone know what might be going on and how I can fix it?

Try to do your scannings in safe mode.

download and run Atribune's VundoFix, per directions here:  http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_hijack&message.id=29584

VundoFix seemed to have done the trick. "Scan as a task" did not work for me, even in safe mode. I just did the scan and remove. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same problem, all above and other programs mentioned in other forums failed to remove this. Was about to resort to re-installing windows until i came across the following removal tool specifically designed to remove this and it worked.

If all else fails try this.

download the Look2Me-Destroyer.exe file from http://www.atribune.org/content/view/28/  and follow the instructions on the URL.
