McAfee IS 2006 ad blocking "vs" Norton IS 2004 ad blocking?
I purchased Norton Internet Security 2004 with my Dell Dimension 8300 - and the Ad Blocking function blocked "all" animated ad/banner graphics on "all" the websites I visited.
I recently upgraded to McAfee Internet Security Suite 2006 and now the
same websites I visit are full of animated ads. My McAfee Security Center is fully "protecting & enabled" (green) and the block ads & block pop-ups boxes in Privacy Service options are both checked.
McAfee claim these ads must be generated from the host website (ie not a 3rd party domain) and are acceptable. But my Norton IS 2004 blocked these
same animated ads!!!
I know that the banner blocker function in the free "ALL-IN-ONE SECRETMAKER" program blocks these animated ads/banners - but I was hoping my McAfee Privacy Service 8 would do too!!
Any comments, is my McAfee performing acceptably, are there more affective animated banner blockers, does Norton IS 2006 stop these animations (both host & 3rd party ads) like the Norton IS 2004 did?

wanted to know if you have both mcafee and norton installed in you system if yes then thats not good for your system because any system can have only one anti-virus s/w so its up to you which one you want to keep to uninstall any s/w you have to use add/remove program { Click on start > control panel > add/remove program and click on the s/w you want to uninstall }
good luck and god bless

Additionally, Opera or FireFox have been suppressing 100% of pop-ups for YEARS.

Solved my problems with “excessive” adverts, even though my McAfee Privacy Service > Block Ads & Block Pop-ups were both checked.
Things got worse – I found out my Registry was infected with Malware (Spyfalcon etc) with SpywareQuake and Fakealert-b trojan then appearing too. I ran the HijackThis program and posted the results on www.techsupportforum.com where their security analysts then kindly instructed me on how to remove my computer’s infections.
My computer is running perfectly now, with minimum adverts!!!
(Although no thanks to McAfee, which didn't protect against Spyfalcon etc and then whose technicians couldn't tell me what to do!!)
