McAfee is so annoying...

Question

I remember last year when i bought my Dimension 1100 home desktop it came with a free anti virus for 1 year. The anti virus was something by McAfee.

About 1 week after i bought it it started downloading something...
It was downloading other programs!!!
And i couldn't stop it!
It downloaded things like spy ware removers, firewalls ect. I never asked for these things and plus i have dial up so it made my already slow internet completely unusable for ages!

Since then i completely un-installed any remains of any McAffe branded piece of software. But today i was rummaging around the computer and from all that time ago it had kept the firewall in a deep spot in the c drive. LOL

(I now have Norton 2005 with the new updates and its wonderful.)
Anyway, thats my annoying story. Anyone else have this problem or have a similar one?

CA...what's the performance of the system like after installing the antivirus software?  Any noticeable slowdowns?

Depends on your CPU and the maker of the AV, I have used this CA for a year on several PC's and it is very lightweight.
