Message on Desktop Screen - "Warning! Spyware detected...."

On my desktop screen I received a message that says" Warning! Spyware detected on you computer.  Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer.  View the list of top spyware removers."

The spyware removers are from TeslaPlus.com and the products include XSRemover.com, PSGuard, SpyDeface.com, and WorldAntiSpy.com.

I do not want any of these "products", nor do I want this message on my screen.  I have scanned my computer with the pre-installed McAfee products, but the message still shows.  This computer was purchased less than two weeks ago.

I sincerely appreciate any help.  Thanks.

Gil

i'd suggest using the http://hijackthis.de tool to check to see if you have any spyware virus programs running as soon as you start your computer.

use of    hijackthis.de   , or any other  automated  HJT analyzer, is NOT recommended, as they have been known to generate both false positive and false negative results:   that is to say, they will "pick on" some good entries, claiming they are "bad"... and they will "allow" some bad entries, implying they are good.

so if you use an automated analyzer, you're doing so at your own risk.  granted,  they may serve as an interesting starting point, but their results should not be taken as gospel.

it's obvious that we're currently over-burdened here at dell, and are having great difficulty responding to all posted logs in a timely manner.   but if you can't wait for a response here, rather than going for an automated analyzer, you should instead consider one of the alternative "live" HJT boards suggested by moderator Chris-M
