Let's see what we can do...
Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:
1. Click " Free Online Scan".
2. Click " Scan now, it's free".
It'll take a few minutes to download (especially with a dialup connection), so be patient. When it's down:
1. Select all available drives.
2. Check(tick) " Auto Clean".
3. Click " Scan".
When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.
Run HiJackThis then:
1. Click " Config..."
2. Click " Misc Tools"
3. Click " Open Process manager"
-
Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\winupdt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Meuqog.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sysmonnt.exe
Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.
Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:
regsvr32 /u S4BAR.DLL
regsvr32 /u 2b5qg9sj.dll
It's ok, if these aren't found or 'error' out. If you want, just copy and paste the individual lines to the command prompt to save on the typing.
Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {E6944EE1-4E54-8023-FA80-EFA76EE7BF5F} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: My Search BHO - {014DA6C1-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10} - C:\Program Files\MySearch\bar\1.bin\S4BAR.DLL
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {893FC94E-5B1E-4AFE-B7C8-D1F38180745F} - C:\Program Files\2b5qg9sj\2b5qg9sj.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ADC02A97-2A6B-4028-9D57-AA5F8E57A310} - C:\Program Files\2b5qg9sj\2b5qg9sj.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {DF527E89-50A5-4D6A-B638-CBC36AC49542} - C:\Program Files\2b5qg9sj\2b5qg9sj.dll
O3 - Toolbar: My Search Bar - {014DA6C9-189F-421a-88CD-07CFE51CFF10} - C:\Program Files\MySearch\bar\1.bin\S4BAR.DLL
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdtl> C:\WINDOWS\System32\winupdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [version> C:\WINDOWS\System32\Qmbueg.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [secure> C:\WINDOWS\System32\Meuqog.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [vcmpin> C:\WINDOWS\System32\Cache\adl_mteststub.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [sysmonnt> C:\WINDOWS\System32\sysmonnt
O23 - Service: AVG7 Remote Support Service (AvgAgent) - Unknown - avgagent.exe (file missing)
Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".
Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:
folders...
C:\Program Files\MySearch
C:\Program Files\2b5qg9sj
files...
C:\WINDOWS\System32\winupdt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Meuqog.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\sysmonnt.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Qmbueg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Cache\adl_mteststub.exe
-
Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".
Post back a new log, and let me know how everything goes.

nickday,
Your welcome! Wow! You've done an excellent job - that log is looking great!
-
Let's go ahead and fix this one entry, then move onto the next scan...
Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {893FC94E-5B1E-4AFE-B7C8-D1F38180745F} - C:\Program Files\2b5qg9sj\2b5qg9sj.dll (file missing)
Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".
Download mwav.exe from MicroWorld, then:
1. Double-click the mwav.exe icon to run it (it'll self extract).
2. Click "Scan".
3. When it completes, post back the results from the 'Virus log information' pane.
Mike.

OK, I think I waited too long to do this and am back to having more problems. Here's my log of that scan:
File C:\WINDOWS\System32\dun.exe infected by "not-a-virus:AdWare.DealHelper.x" Virus. Action Taken: No Action Taken.
File C:\WINDOWS\System32\newdevin.exe infected by "not-a-virus:AdWare.BookedSpace.c" Virus. Action Taken: No Action Taken.
File C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\vcmpin.exe infected by "not-a-virus:AdWare.DelphinMediaViewer.c" Virus. Action Taken: No Action Taken.
File C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\vmstmp\vmstmp.exe infected by "not-a-virus:AdWare.DelphinMediaViewer.c" Virus. Action Taken: No Action Taken.
But I think Deal Helper and other nasty things made their way back to my computer. Here's my new HiJack this log. I'd appreciate your help again.:

Reboot your computer, and try using different programs and make sure everything is running ok. If your still experiencing problems, post back any concerns or problems you may be having and wait for any advice before continuing with the cleanup.
Download, install and run Cleanup! from Steven Gould, then:
If everything is running ok, let's do the final cleanup...
1. Run " Disk Cleanup" and allow it to remove everything it finds.
If your having any more problems, post back.
