Nasty spyware infestation...I NEED HELP!!
I have read a lot of the postings similar to mine, yet I have a different type of problem.
I have been running Spybot and Adaware for a while as system upkeep. I went out and purchased Norton Antivirus and installed it after I started having a problem with startup times.
Now something is meddling with my search results, launchinig my ISP browser and doing all types of annoying litle things like that.
My system now takes 15 minutes to complete startup. I thought I had trouble with the browser, so I went to my ISP. I was wrong.
ISP sent me to Dell and I spoke with a technician who diagnosed the problem as Spyware infection based on running processes (55) info in the Task Manager screen. CPU usage fluctuates between 2% and 89%, which causes the comp to do what it does.
As a result of all this, I am not able to surf any websites or click on any hyperlinks. All I get is a message saying "not responding" at the top of the window. Therefore I cannot download any of this software I have read about.
Can anybody help me out?

Go to here and do an online scan and delete whatever it finds. Be sure to highlight the drives you want to have searched.
After that could you please go to here
and download AdAwareSE and delete what it finds. Then while using
AdAware, click on add-ons and get their plug-in for the VX2 variant,
and run that and delete what it finds.
After that go to here
and download SpyBot and run that and delete what it finds.
Now go to
here and download HiJackThis to its own folder that you create on your C:\ drive.
After it is downloaded open the program and click Scan and Save to log.
Post the log that it generates here.

Thanks for your response. It is helpful, however, I cannot surf the net to perform downloads.
That is what alerted me to this in the firat place. I have tried looking at regedit in Windows, but honestly, that kind of scared me. I am not real technical with this stuff.
I just want my computer back. I consider this to be a malicious takeover as I cannot even perform menial tasks anymore.
Any ideas??

If you can use another system to download the HiJacThis program to disk and install it from disk.
Doing the same with the AdAware and SpyBot?

1. Check your HOSTS file (if it was altered by some spyware, it may interfere with your browsing/downloads):

2. Try lunching the downloads using RUN:
Start -> Run -> enter the exact link and click OK (save programs to disk – DO NOT run from current location):

I don't think, but I have been wrong before :) that it won't fit on a floppy.

When you have done what I requested earlier please post your log. Please know that 100mph is very helpful but doesn't work the logs.
