Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary. Please delete the old copy so it can't be used.
---------------------
You have a pepper infection

http://www.memorywatcher.com/uninst.exe

When you run the uninstaller, you MUST have an internet connection active for it to work.

Please run this twice with a reboot in between.
----------------------------
Check these in hijackthis, AND WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED, fix checked.

You are running hijackthis - from the temp folders area still, that would mean that no backups will be available, please follow the instructions in my last post, and ensure you delete the old copy after moving.
---------------------------------
Check these in hijackthis, AND WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED, fix checked.

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebSavingsfromEbates] wjview /cp:p "C:\Program Files\WebSavingsfromEbates\System\Code" Main lp: "C:\Program Files\WebSavingsfromEbates"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [New.net Startup] rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~1.DLL,NewDotNetStartup

Then Reboot.
That should clear your machine, but please post a new log if after a reboot those two 04 lines are still there.
----------------------------------------------------
This is my normal post for when you are clear - which you now are:-
------------------------
How on earth did I get infected with all that spyware in the first place? http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=38;t=3051
Also available from here :- http://www.computercops.biz/postlite7736-.html or http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957
--------------
Look at the info on my website regarding malware (Link below). Some things you can do to stop getting infected again:-

Spybot s&d, Ad-aware Run weekly - or after a heavy internet session.

Spywareblaster & Spywareguard, first sets kill bits to stop known bad activeX controls installing, second acts like your AV to stop browser hijacks and installing of known badies.

Also ie-spyad, puts 4000 bad sites in your restricted (banned) sites list, to stop you accidentaly getting sent to a bad site, it has optional list of "bad" adult sites to install as well.

All those with links from my site. Do remember just like AV they need to be updated regularly, I do mine weekly, AV daily.

With these and a firewall in place I have to try various bad sites when checking peoples hijackthis logs looking to sort bad from good, and I have not yet been infected. Still time for it to happen LOL.

I did everything that you said. Hijackthis is in its own folder on the c drive and I could not find any other copies anywhere. Everything seems to be working fine except my internet connection is extremely slow connecting when I log on. I have a cable connection and I use Earthlink and have it set to auto-launch after log on to the computer. Its always been really fast connecting but now it is taking several minutes. Whats up with that? Did I delete something I wasn't supposed to? Also, I dont see where any backups are from Hijackthis. Heres another log, tell me what you think.

Hi,

You still are running the program from that temp folder, you should delete the zip downloaded file, it is that where it is running from. That is why no backups have been made. I don't think you will need the backups so all should be OK. Since I have bben posting here, I have not yet needed to advise the restore from a backup even once. But it is a safety feature and we should use it if we can.
-------------------
You need to visit www.netdotnet.com and use the uninstall procedures from item 4 on the bottom of that page.

--------------------
I notice that you may be running two anti-virus programs

C:\Program Files\WinAntiVirus 2004\AVTray.exe
C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe

I would advise the removal of one of them, two AV's does not make for double protection, and they can cause confilicts.
--------------------------
You do have several programs loading at startup that are not required at that time (including the second AV), and boot time and resources would be improved by cutting down on them. (The 04's in your log).
You can visit this site (Pacmans) http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php to help you decide if you need a program to start at boot or not. And the people in the windows XP board at Dell would be able to give advice if required.

Your welcome - here is some advice

Also ie-spyad (Link on my site), puts 4000 bad sites in your restricted (banned) sites list, to stop you accidentaly getting sent to a bad site, it has optional list of "bad" adult sites to install as well.

All those with links from my site. Do remember just like Anti-Virus they need to be updated regularly, I do mine weekly, Anti-Virus hourly.

With these and a firewall in place I have to try various bad sites when checking peoples hijackthis logs looking to sort bad from good, and I have not yet been infected. Still time for it to happen LOL.
