1972vet.

it seemed to work but now I have a new permanent prompt on the screen that says
'bcmwltry.exe        ordinal not found

       The ordinal 344 could not be located in the dynamic link library COMCTL32.dll"

While I have had some years with the computers , this is really Greek to me and no idea what it means or what to do now?

Any help?

I assume those open source applications mean items that I have added;

Microsoft PP viewer 2003
advanced windows care v2 personal.

 I do not recognize what the following are that I have;

J2se runtime environment 5.0 update 6
Java (TM) 6 update 3
CCleaner (remove only)
getPlus(R)_ocx
MSXML 6.0 PARSER (kb933579)
MSXML 4.0 sp2 (KB936181)
quickset

I am also now thinking that I may have been downloading a Dell wireless update out of sequence also.

I also notice on my computer in downloads folder
there are only two items

JWSetup.exe.partial
JWSetup-dm(1)

Should I delete them?

Regarding those two items in my computer, download folder.

Not only is one of them in Japanese? I now remember trying to download that recommended download by mistake and may have tried to abort the download.  There were two downloads one for overseas and one for U.S. and I started the overseas one it seems to me now.

Assume removing both of them by deleting will not help any?

I think I removed the last security update, update for windows and windows xp hotfix on the list I sent you at the end of the three catagories at the end of the message.

I also removed the only two downloads in the download folder in the control panel.

The prompt that I mentioned last ( ordinal 344 not found...) is still there.

Do you think this is not a virus and just a bad glitch that I caused in trying to do the recommnded downloads??

Unless you have some other idea , I will pass and go to the tech with the job. We have both been at this too much and I do appreciated all your time on this matter
