Norton Internet security 2007-udate 2008 problems...

I have been having a continuois problem with my Norton security prgram, I have updated it through their website but the problem I keep having on both programs is that when it starts up, it stalls at the Configuration... Is someone having the same problem or can some help me. I have been on with Symantec for many days now and they can't figure it out. I was thinking it might be a conflict in the startup. please get back to me.
