Please help with Trojan.Zlob

Question

My XPS4 contunes to crash (blue scren) and and I continue to get a window (useless) from NAV that I am infected with a Trojan.Zlob virus and that NAV can't do anything about it. I have followed the 'manual instructions' removal from Norton but again they have been useless since the files they instruct to delete are not there. This has been going on for quite a while. It seems that a corrupted file is accessing the Zlob (?) . I have deleted IE6 and stuck to Mozillla but the problem continues. I will appreciate your inputs.

I'm not to familiar with Hijack this but you need to download it and run it. then post the log in the Hijack this board so that the moderators can assist you.

Download and run the http://thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe this is the HijackThis autoinstall program
Please choose the default location of C:\Program Files as the destination.

Hernanhe:         I know exactly what your going thru as I had a Download Trojan virus and Norton couldnt delete,quarantine, or repair it as it stated it is used by another person or program.  I tried just about everything and was just about to give up until a guy in the Dell Forum suggested I download a program called ' SuperAdBlocker' and he said that would work.       I was so fustrated but decided to try it as it has a 15-day free trial so I used it and it completely eliminated all spyware and was the only program that deleted the Trojan virus.   All you need to do is type in SuperAdBlocker in any popular search engine and download it and run it, its a Phenomial program.   Let me know how what your results are as I glad to pass on a program that does what it is meant to do.                                                                                    guitarhaus

Trojan Zlob is just a downloader Trojan, it have downloaded other files which caused those. Meaning, you dont have to concentrate only of trojan.zlob, below might help:   1. Get Spyware Strike Removal Instructions and Print it. click here 2. Get Spyaxe Removal Instructions and Print it. click here. 3. Get Trojan.Zlob Removal Instructions and Print it. click here. 4. Update your AV Program and Run  a full system scan. 5. Diasble System Restore on WindowsXp and/or WinME. 6. Reboot your computer in SafeMode and follow the printed removal instructions. 7. Reboot your computer in SafeMode with Networking and Connect to Internet. 8. Run an Online Virus Scanner. click here. And delete all variants it founds. 9. Reboot in Normal Mode and see if you succeed.   Note: I advise to run all the online Virus Scanner. Because each vendor has its own engine to detect and remove everyt type of spyware and viruses.

Formated was right, zlob is not the only thing you have to deal with. Besides there are variants of zlob virus. Try here:

You may also run anti-puper because it can detect files planted by spyaxe, an adware secretelt installed by trojan zlob. click here.

I believe I finally fixed after a lot of inputs, which I  really, really appreciate and some 'investigating' on my part. I went into the System 32 folder and identified files that were added tha day I started having problems. There were two. I googled them and both were related to Zlob so I deleted them. I had also monitored the 'bleeping computer' site and found a key that is 'loaded' in the registry which dires IE to connect to an 'mscornet ' site. I deleted that key. Finally, a very friendly and helpful 'helpful' lady on the 'hijack this' section of bleeping computer.com reviewed my scan and verified it was OK and suggested some deletes.. I can appreciate and fully emphatize with the frustration of having our PC 'out fo control'. I consider myself relatively computer savy and have fixed several issues but this one took about 3 weeks to fix. I am very grateful to all who post their experiences an d specially to the helper form the 'hijackthis' forum. I hope this helps someone.                herb

Thanks for the info, this page alone helped me get rid of the .zlob. I have been trying since yesterday. I have been running Norton AV AND AVGfree, neither could help....go figure. Thanks again. kj
