I really appreciate your help. Thank you so very much. I did exactly as you instructed. I saved the log you sent me as CFScript then I dragged it from my Desktop to Combofix and ran it again. Then I ran hijackthis again. Below are the new logs from Combofix and hijackthis as you requested. Please advise. Thank you once again.

You are most welcome.

We Need to temporarily disable SpyBotS&D Tea timer so it doesn't interfere with our fix
  • 1) Run Spybot-S&D
    2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
    3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
    4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
    5) Restart your computer.

1. Open NotePad (not wordpad). Copy and paste the following into Notepad

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddemls.dll
c:\windows\system32\d3dim700r.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vmjb38c.exe

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{161CF20D-FEF8-416B-8C53-BDF1AF72EECC}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{8C5B718D-5C75-4F86-99DD-1B55CA12D47B}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\dpjanzze]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\vmjb38c]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\session manager\appcertdlls]

Save the File as CFScript(exactly as shown no spaces) ->> Save it to your Desktop

Using the Image as a reference, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

user posted image
  • You will be prompted to run Combofix again, Do so
Following the same rules as indicated in my first post
Then post the contents of the C:\ComboFix.txt log in your reply

2. Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log as well

Thank you once again. I have followed your instructions to the "T". When I went into SpyBot, the TeaTimer was not checked, only the SD Helper was checked. Is that OK?

Here are the combofix and hijackthis logs I just finished running. I look forward to hearing from you.

1. Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.

  • Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
  • Select your language and click OK, then next.
  • Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
  • Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
  • Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
  • On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
  • If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
  • Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced." deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
  • Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
  • Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
  • After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

2. Run an online virus scan called Kaspersky from HERE.
  • 1. Click on " Kaspersky Online Scanner"
    2. A new smaller window will pop up. Press on " Accept". After reading the contents.
    3. Now Kaspersky will update the anti-virus database. Let it run.
    4. Click on " Next"->>" Scan Settings", and make sure the database is set to " extended". And check both the scan options. Then click OK.
    5. Then click on " My Computer". And the scan will start.
    6. When the scan is complete Select "Save error report as"
Then in the file name just type in kaspersky
Under "save as type" select text .txt
    Save it to your Desktop.

Copy and post the results of the Kaspersky Online scan

Hello bamajim.

I ran CCleaner already and then I ran Kaspersky. My computer crashed and it took over 2 hours to complete but I finally got it done. Here are the results of the Kasperky Online Scan as you requested. I look forward to hearing from you once again with the next step. Thank you once again.

Hello bamajim. I did exactly what you said with MBAM and I closed the previous Kaspersky window when I got to the remove selected section of MBAM. Here is the MBAM report. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you once again.

Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log.

And in your reply give me an update on how your PC is running now.

Hello bamajim. You know my laptop is running much better. I realize that it only has 128 of RAM so it may be running as good as it can. Here is the hijackthis log I just ran. Let me know if anything else needs to be done. Thank you once again.

With 128K, I'm suprised it has any speed at all. XP needs at least 256K to run at a respectible rate, and 512K would be prefered.

You may want to use this program to clean up

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

You may now remove/delete/uninstall the tools we used to clean your PC

Now that your log is clean

There are some final notes:
Disable and Enable System Restore
  • Lets create a clean System Restore point
    the instructions are here

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of
    Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.u5.
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the " Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: " Accept License Agreement".
    The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u5-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Hi bamajim. I ran CCleaner and everything was fine. I deleted combofix and hijackthis from my laptop along with the other tools we used to clean it. After I created a new system restore point I connected the Ethernet cable to go online to update JAVA. Now the laptop is running slower than before we started cleaning it. Can you please help me once again?
