VirtumundoBeGone was an excellent tool 'in its day'.... but it has not been updated in months... and as such, has become ineffective in combating newer versions of WinFixer. please download and run Atribune's VundoFix, per directions here:  http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=si_hijack&message.id=29584 assuming that takes care of your problem, be sure to update your Java (2nd post in same link)., from your current 1.4.2.3 to the lastest 1.5.0.6 when done, generate a brand new HJT log, REPLY to this thread, and post both the HJT log, as well as your VundoFix.txt log --- which should be located in your root directory, C:\

I haven't had any winfixer pop-ups since following your instructions but they did come kind of sporadically before so I can't be sure if I'm 'cured' quite yet without some surfing.  I downloaded the new Java and removed the old from my machine per the instructions.  I also removed the 3 lines via Hijackthis and ran a new log which is pasted below. Question for you: Have the Winfixer (WinAntiVirus, WinAntiSpyware, Blackworm, Amaena) popups stopped after running VundoFix and rebooting?? if so, it's critical you update your java, to help prevent a re-infection. directions to do so were included in the 2nd post in the link i gave you for VundoFix.

Next, we have some "touch-up" work to do, using HijackThis.

First: You're running HJT from a TEMP directory:

C:\DOCUME~1\Bob\LOCALS~1\Temp\Temporary Directory 1 for hijackthis.zip\HijackThis.exe

When you do so, either HJT will not create its log files and backup files; or if it does, you risk losing them when the TEMP's cache is cleared. It's important that you save these backup files, in case you have to "undo" [restore] some of the things you "FIX" incorrectly.

So you need to move HJT into a separate, non-temporary, non-Desktop, directory of its own. We recommend using the directory C:\HJT , so that it will then appear in your log, under running processes, as C:\HJT\HiJackThis.exe

AFTER you move HJT, as i've just instructed:

close your internet browser

Run HiJackThis. click on DO A SYSTEM SCAN ONLY

Place a check-mark in the box in front of each of the lines:

Click on FIX CHECKED. Close HiJackThis. Reboot. And then generate/post another log, REPLYing to this thread.

At that point, I'm gonna try to ask someone else to step-in, to determine additional problems (if any) that you might have. Please be advised that we're very "understaffed" at the moment, so I can't make any guarantee as to when the next helper will arrive.

Be sure to look this solution over before you begin. There are a some item(s) i'm not familar with. If you recognze any, then just omit them from this fix.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

I followed your instructions and 'fixed' with highjackthis all the items I know I didn't customize.  Party Poker, SideStep and Yahoo toolbar related items are things that I have downloaded and used so I don't think they are an issue. I didn't find SideFind in my Add/Remove Programs list or C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe02a.dll.  I was sure to unhide all files. Here is my new log.  Thanks for your help. Use an Anti Virus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See this link for a listing of some on line & their stand-alone anti virus programs:

Update your Anti Virus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. For an article on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:

Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.
Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
This will provide real-time spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. You should also scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software in conjunction with Spybot. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. A article on anti-malware products with links for this program and others can be found here:

Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.
