SpywareInfo is under massive DDOS attack:

The perpetrators of the attack maybe come after DellTalk if sufficient information is provided to kill their hijacking ways.

Untill this attack is over then referencing SpywareInfo will be very slow to non-existant.

Was just going to make the same comment.

Also www.merijn.org and www.tomcoyote.org are also under the same attack.

So to obtain the hijackthis and cwshredder programs you may need to use one of the mirror sites. We will advise each person who needs.

BTW two new mirror sites have been put up over the last few days - and MORE will if required.

I guess the free AOL subscription CDs are working great.  I may be totally off base here but with 35 million subscribers and possibly having 1% infected with open worms/trojans/proxies then it is a formidable number.

I suspect that it's not AOL, but more than likely it's unprotected computers on broadband connections.  The number of people with just Dell machines that either don't use the 90 day trial of McAfee firewall or allow it to expire without renewal/replacement is alarming.  Add to that number those that have problems with it who are advised by ISPs to uninstall it.  Most novices are unaware of the potential threats and ISPs do virtually nothing about warning them when they sell broadband services.

I agree that it is more likely the broadband connections.  I suspect that >95% of the systems on broadband are infected with the garbage and the owners don't have a clue what is going on.

Hi Guys,
New to the war. I agree with the broadband theory. Just recently removed spyware, adware, trojans and worms from 3 friends computers with help from the people at the tomcoyote forum and here. All 3 in very early 20's and on broadband. Downloading all kinds of junk and online 24/7. Me...I am on AOL..now you guys have me worried...how does one know if their computer is hitting the downed sites with hidden attackware? (Sorry don't know what else to call it)
Does the offending computer act different?? Or am I doing harm when I try to access those websites while they are under attack?? I need some education on this. And don't want to be part of the problem.

Most of these trojan/worms would get picked up by AV software. New ones, (Like that now hitting SWI and Tomcoyotes) not until found in the wild, from logs such as these in this forum.

So you could say that sites like these, along with the honey pots setup by the AV companies, are the identifiers of the viruses that get into the AV signature files. (I believe if you get to find one, you might get to name it LOL).

To stop, install a firewall, keep windows updated, add some anti-malware progs. Dont open email those you are not expecting, including the preview pane in OE/Outlook.Check out my website below for suggestions.

Without a firewall, you MAY notice some network activity when you are not active on the net. BUT for those with p2p progs that would not be seen.
