Spybot Search & Destroy acting weird

My Spybot S&D has been acting weird lately. I have tried downloading the Dell BIOS update and a Spybot S&D message comes up stating the the Spybot S&D Resident blocked it. Also, a Windows update it did the same thing.

When I do a Spybot Search it comes back clean but a list of items in green appears at the bottom of the "Congratulations" deal.

How do I configure the excessively aggressive Spybot S&D Resident not to interfere with legitimate downloads?

1. Open Spybot
2. Click Mode -> Advanced Mode
3. Click Yes
4. Click Tools (located in the bottom left corner) -> Resident
5. Your settings are there.
6. Then close Spybot.
Reboot.

Uncheck the ones you do not want -- Teatimer may interfere with downloads/installations because it monitors the registry for changes and can prevent the good ones as well as the bad.

Reboot and try your downloads again.

If you still have problems, try uninstalling Spybot and reinstalling it later.
To uninstall here is the procedure:

Go into Spybot > Immunize
Click "Undo" button (at the top)
Uncheck (if checked) the following:
"Enable permanent blocking of bad addresses in Internet Explorer"

Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident
Uncheck (if checked) the following:
Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.

Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > IE Tweaks.
Uncheck (if checked) any of the following "Miscellaneous locks":
Lock Hosts file read-only as protection against hijackers
Lock IE start page setting against user changes (current user)
Lock IE control panel against opening from within IE (current user)

Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Hosts file
Click the "Remove Spybot S&D hosts list" button (at the top)

Exit Spybot-S&D
Make sure that TeaTimer is not running by checking for the TeaTimer System Tray Icon. If the icon is there:
Right click Spybot's TeaTimer System Tray Icon > click Exit Spybot-S&D Resident. TeaTimer should close.

Go to Windows > Control panel > Add or Remove Programs > Locate "Spybot – Search & Destroy 1.3" > Remove.
Using Windows explorer, verify that the following folder has been deleted. If not, delete it:C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy

REBOOT.

Then try downloading/installing a fresh copy of Spybot.

It does a scan and the green check mark appears: Congratulations, no immediate threats were found, but in green, numerous boxes appear below that. They are Cache, Cookie, Log, MS Direct Draw, MS Media Player, MS Office 11.0, MS Office 11, MS Search Assitant, Windows Explorer, winows Media SDK. What is all this garbage.

Perhaps if you ask your question here, they will be able to give you some detailed answers:

I did the uninstall and am wondering if it is necessary to install a clean version!

I have Windows Media Edition, waiting for my Vista upgrade discs to arrive.

I use Norton 2007; Windows Defender; Lavasoft Adaware; Spyware Blaster. Since I installed the Blaster, Aware does not find very many items when it scans.

What would Spybot add to this mix?
No Events found!
