spyware patasite
I have a new Dell Inspiron 1525 with vista. I have system mechanic installed and AVG installed plus all my security on my vista is on. When I ran a scan of system mechanics is says I have a spyware parasite on my computer, but when I click on it to remove it my computer shuts down and I get the blue screen. AVG has not detected it and vista security says there is no spyware on it. Sooooo what do I need to do? Thanks Judy

Hi Judy, and welcome to DCF.
If your system is working well, I would ignore what System Mechanic says. I would go further, and say that you should uninstall System Mechanic. It is a registry cleaner that, despite any claims it makes, will not improve your PC's performance. It can, like all registry cleaners, do serious harm to your system.
You say you use AVG and "Vista Security". If this includes any other antivirus, be aware you should only have one antivirus running at a time, to prevent conflicts that might weaken your defenses.

Judy:
I'm not saying to uninstall AVG: I don't know what Vista Security includes, and just wanted to be sure you were running only one antivirus (AVG).

Judy:
I don't use Vista, but as long as it doesn't include another antivirus (such as is included with Windows Live OneCare) then AVG is OK.
