Spyware Strike information and removal
With the increase in this nasty Trojan I am posting a site with some information on Spyware Strike and a site with very good detailed instructions on removal. As of the date of this post, there is not any anti-virus or spyware or trojan removal program that will work but aluria is working on it so a cure may be in the near future. For now here are the sites.

Removal instructions on the first site did nothing but the second site was right on the nose. This is a very nasty Trojan and not easy to get rid of since it keeps mutating which makes auto removal very difficult.

there is (allegedly) a new/updated simple removal tool, by Atribune (highly reputable), which can be downloaded from:
http://www.atribune.org/downloads/Spyware-Strike-Removal.exe
or from http://www.majorgeeks.com/SpywareStrike_Removal_d4950.html
1) download it to your desktop
2) click-on and run the tool
3) reboot your computer
If anyone has first-hand experience with this tool [either good or bad], feel free to reply here, to let others know...

According to the adware reports site, which I have linked to, there is nothing that will remove it as of January 23. I see that the Atribune site file is dated January 7th so it may not be effective. The problem is that the trojan is mutating making detection and removal difficult. I have been able to remove it manually with ease, but nothing has worked automatically.

I am anxious to hear any first hand reports as well. The manual removal is a major pain. I actually heard back from one of the folks at adware reports and he stated that as of the 23rd or so there was not an auto fix. But that may be old news since Aluria was supposed to have a fix by today. I am hoping that somone will post a follow up with definitive information.

As i mentioned, I have no first-hand knowledge/experience with this tool. As such, the only reason why i took the "liberty" to mention it as a possibility here is because Atribune is a well-known, highly respected source in the battle against Malware.
I see where the link you cite to AdwareReport asserts: "Aluria Antispyware and Spyware Doctor are the only products that we know of which can automatically disable and removes SpywareStrike (updated Jan 23, 2006)".
"that we know of" certainly allows for the possibility that there are indeed some automated removal tools available that have not yet come to the attention of the authors/testers at AdwareReport. that's why i requested that anyone who has actually tried the Atribune fix... either successfully or unsuccessfully... report back here. And then we'll know for sure.
