Symantecs Norton Internet Security 2006
Dell put Symantecs Norton Internet Security on my Dimension C521 and Inspiron laptop 1505E. I asked them not to but they did anyway. After multiple attempts to uninstall this and install McAfee Internet Security I am still receiving a Warning in my McAfee security center stating the following;
"There are multiple firewalls installed on your computer. This may negatively affect your computers performance. To take full advantage of safety and security center we recommend uninstalling the following firewalls: Norton Internet Worm Protection."
My computers performance is affected as stated above.
I have removed all instances of Symantec and Norton in the registry and was not able to remove 3 of the instances.
I have contacted Symantec, they guided me on how to use there uninstall.exe to remove this and it did the same as the original uninstall, issue still there.
I worked with Dell and they could not resolve the issue. Dell asked me to exchange the two systems I purchased but I kept getting cut off when trying to do this.
After about 20 hours of working with this issue I am still in the same spot.
Does anyone know how to resolve this matter?
It appears as though Dell and Symantec are in bed together because after 90 days of the free trial if a user wants to uninstall Symantec Norton Internet Security they are unable to and when installing another application it interferes with Symantec and system performance is affected. Frustrated in their attempt to resolve this they subscribe to Symantec and pay monthly while Dell collects a % of this for installing it on the systems.
