Unable to open Firewall Settings

Question

Windows security alerts display the message No firewall is turned on. When I go to Control Panel to try to open the firewall, there's a message more or less like this Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Firewall settings. Please advise on how to overcome this.Thanks.

I opened the link, downloaded the sharedacces, re-started the PC

and opened the Firewall settings thru Control Panel.

Now I get the message: For your security some settings are

controlled by group policy, and I can't turn it on... what should I do now?

Go to Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools

Computer Management - That will open the computer management consol.

The tree on the left side click services and applications - expand to and select services.

Scroll down on the rt side until you find windows firewall/internet settings. Highlite - at the top of the right side of the page click stop - and then restart - this should default setings.

You must have administrator priveledges to acces this though.

I followed the directions, but it's still the same... (Controlled by Group policy) Where does this come from?   Should I go to Advanced and click Default settings? It warns that some programs may not work... What could be affected? Please advice. Thanks :)
