You have a browser hijacker,
----------------------
Use these to remove Malware (Spyware and Adware).
Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware
Cwshredder
With all of these download them, install (after unzip if required), download the latest signature file, run, delete all that they find.

Failing those solving your problems a post of a hijackthis log for the experts to advise.
HijackThis From Here
Download, run, scan, save log, then in notepad copy the FULL log by copy and paste to a post in one of these specialist spyware removal forums:-
http://tomcoyote.org/forums/index.php
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php
http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi
http://boards.cexx.org/index.php
DO NOT FIX ANYTHING WITH HIJACKTHIS WITHOUT EXPERT ADVICE, most of what it finds you need for normal MS Windows tasks.
Do read the sites FAQ before posting, and advise your problem and what steps you have already done to try to cure your problem.

I am in all those sites as ChrisRLG. You might get me, but any of the more problematic ones are handled by the experts. If you get a 'advanced member' like me, we have other ways of asking for advice from the experts, to pass on to you.

You could post your log here in this thread (if in the Virus Information and Removal Board - if not post in that board not in this thread), and I will have a go at giving advice, but if you go to one of the more specalist forums more experts will be able to help.

Yes, I am in training by some of the best anti-spyware experts on the net. Some on the people whom I have contact with, write the programs such as cwshredder. I do have access to ask for help of those experts at anytime day or night through a chat room.

Go on to the hijackthis advise, post your log here, or at tomcoyotes or spywareinfo. Have a look at one of those sites to see how good at removal of this mess we/they are. Just follow advise as written, and without experts advice DO NOT FIX ANYTHING with hijackthis. In this forum at present I am the only regular that I know has been trained to do so. (Anyone reading this with the knowledge please PM me, I would only be to glad to know of you).

Post your log - if at one of the other sites please let me know where and under what name you have posted.

Thanks to ChrisRLG for your help on my problem of unwanted web pages.

However, after loading and running the software, cwshredder, and ad-aware

the unwanted web pages still load each time the computer is rebooted.

Is there any hope of solving this problem?

You have coolwebsearch which is a CWS infection as one badie.

Download and run http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/junk/CWShredder.exe

This should remove a lot of what you have. Then reboot and post a new hijackthis log, to check for others.

Before you run the hijackthis again please MOVE the file to a proper folder for it, not leave in the temp area. When and if we fix anything with hijackthis it will save restore files in the same folder, if in the temp area they could get deleted very easily.

Please note that I am in the UK - this post is made at 1am for me, and I will not be back here until aprox 7pm GMT or later. I would suggest that you post your following log at http://forums.tomcoyote.org/index.php?showforum=27 as other experts are always available. When posting add a link to this thread for them as well as your new log, so that they know what you have tried so far.

This log was still run from a hijackthis in a temp folder. Create a folder in the c: drive such as say 'c:\hjt' move hijackthis to that folder and ensure that the previous location does not have a copy left.

Then rerun hijackthis and post a fresh log.

Sorry to insist on this but if I do end up giving wrong advice (Other experts will advice me) the backups mad by hijackthis in the folder will be helpful for recovering.

The line R0 that contains Hand-Book.Com, is that my problem?

Hi

Sorry, I am away from my own computers with all my tools tonight, so can only give general help. Need my tool programs to know good from bad.

If that R0 is not the required home page that you wish then yes, but it may be recreated by one of the O4 or O16 lines that may go with it.

Which is probably this one, as I recognise it as bad.
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/10a599e9c5b3e2c27c23/netzip/RdxIE601.cab

And this one also, pretending to be a windows update file
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Updates] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msupdate.exe

ONLY IF THAT R0 IS NOT YOUR REQUIRED HOME PAGE
Tick these in hijackthis, AND WITH ALL BROWSER WINDOWS CLOSED, fix ticked.

If you are still having problems please answer a few questions for me, as appart from some irregular's as I list below your log now looks clean to me.

Please advice what your ISP is, and type of connection - dialup or DSL. as you have three lines of code one for each.

DNS servers for Info Avenue Internet Services, LLC, of FortMill SC :-
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{5E4BAFD6-6E22-4EA8-8E30-9ABC1F432D5B}: NameServer = 204.116.57.2 206.74.254.2
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{5E4BAFD6-6E22-4EA8-8E30-9ABC1F432D5B}: NameServer = 204.116.57.2 206.74.254.2

A directX control for DirectWay
O16 - DPF: {76D90D08-EAB7-46D8-BF99-87445BF59E72} (SystemInfo Class) - http://www.iwantdway.com/dwayready/dpcsysinfo.cab

and a startup program, known to be for Earthlink
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ConMgr.exe] "C:\Program Files\EarthLink 5.0\conmgr.exe"

They may all be connected to the same company and so OK.

Did you try to fix the :-

If so what should your home page be.
