Hello Malwarebytes community,

Malwarebytes version 5.5.3.246 component package 153.0.5565 is now available.

You can get the update right away by clicking "Check for updates" in Settings > General. Or, it will be automatically installed if you have automatic updates enabled.

What’s New

• Webcam Monitoring: a new feature that notifies users when a program accesses their webcam, helping them detect and stop unwanted spying attempts. This feature is rolling out gradually and will become available to all users over the coming weeks

• Added an info tip explaining what Quarantine is

Issues Fixed

• Improved the messaging in the File Shredder confirmation modal when only 1 item is selected

• Fixed spacing issues in the real-time protection report

• Improved localization for the Dashboard section

• Fixed an issue where the window could reopen stretched across multiple monitors

• Adjusted the “Scan Duration” value shown when exporting a scan report

Remark:   1) This update was originally released last Thursday (with component package 153.0.5555), but then temporarily paused to address an inconsistency between Webcam Monitoring availability and the Trusted Advisor recommendation related to Webcam Monitoring.

So it's possible there may be additional changes not documented above.

2) I opened my webcam via Zoom, but did NOT receive any notification from MBAM... which is not surprising, as they specified this feature would be rolled-out gradually over a few weeks.
