Virus has blocked internet connection cont'd
I am trying to fix my cousin's Dell Dimension 8200 as it cannot access the internet. It has Win XP Home running and he has Verizon DSL with a router. I brought the PC to my house and hooked it to my router and still could not access the internet. I can ping successfully the ISP 2 DNS servers as well as my router and other external addresses but IE or netscape will not open a web page. I cannot update any software online either such as Win update or norton.
I tried to do a system restore back to a date earlier then when he had problems but it wouldn't let me. I also tried to run the repair from the original XP cd but it is looking for an Administrative password which he swears he didn't setup, to be safe we tried all passwords that he would have used with no luck. I am running @stake LC4 on it now to try to get the Administrator password.
I installed AdAware and ran until it finds no more problems. I then loaded PestPatrol and it ran once removing problems that it found but it suggested that I reboot and run again but since then it won't start and brings up a "Send error report" to MS window (which I can't do if I can't get online). I then installed Spybot Search and Destroy 1.2 and ran finding some problems and fixing them. I also loaded Hijackthis and saved the log see below...

Hi mpdahmer. Your HijackThis program reveals this:
O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'lsp.dll' missing
You might be able to fix it with this:

Your version of hijackthis is very old, please download a new version, instructions below.
-------------------
HijackThis From Here
Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary. Then run, scan, save log, then in notepad copy the FULL log by copy and paste as a reply to this post and an expert with HijackThis Knowldge, will have a go at giving advice. Please note the list of experts names below, very few forum regulars here have had this training.
DO NOT FIX ANYTHING WITH HIJACKTHIS WITHOUT EXPERT ADVICE, most of what it finds you need for normal MS Windows tasks.
Known Spyware HijackThis fighters in DellTalk - If you are, and are not on the list please PM Me.
