What a shame.

Malware Removal Forum will be no more. It will be missed. I suppose there were no more, or not enough colaborators. These last two weeks I have seen many members asking for help and getting none.

Please do not get rid of this section of the forum. Virus & Spyware Discussion has been a base for my understanding and a fountain of knowledge about PC security, and defence programs.

BB, Ky, Joe and others feel like my friends who has been there for any info I may ask, and I am sure I am not the only one who feel this way.

Regards.

I feel the same way. This was such an important froum. There was no reason given either for shutting down the Malware Removal Forum.

I am deeply disappointed to see the valuable one on one service revoked by Dell.

A Big Hat Tip to BB for helping so many for so long. ::bigthumbs::

I will not visit the sites listed as it would appear Dell is playing favorites when pointing to "other" support options.

** This is not support ** as I see it since Malware or more prevalent today than virii !!!

Perhaps I will consider my options in buying a new Business Segment machine which I am now shopping for.

I too am deeply disappointed that Dell has chosen to remove this service. My sincere thanks to all the malware removal experts who donated so much of their time to help so many. You will all be sorely missed.

Hi Joe53,

Hopefully the malware removal experts will want to continue helping customers in the Forums Virus and Spywayre Discussion boards.  We agree with you that one on one help is the best for Malware removal, however, the Dell Forum will no longer be providing this service.

Regards,
Robert

Thanks IROC9555,

We will be keeping the Virus and Spyware Discussion Forums up, and we agree with you that one on one help is the best for Malware removal, however; after a lot of internal discussion, we decided the best way to give a solid customer experience was to just send folks directly to sites like Spyware Hammer or Microsoft's Security forum to get that help.

Regards,
Robert

I would like to add that, by reading the topics in the Malware Removal Forum on a regular base, I've learned so very much on safe and secure browsing, thanks to the advice given by the experts there.

I've just noticed the Malware Removal Forum has been deleted completely.  I just hope they will bring it back as "read only" as this is a great source of very useful information.

Mona,

while I have no inside knowledge on this matter, I would assume that, since apparently removed, the MR forum will not be coming back... even in a "read-only" manner.

My reasoning:   the advice offered in MR was intended just for the specific user/pc in that thread.   Unfortunately, many people try to "self-diagnose" their own problem, making a comparison to what APPEARS to be a similar issue.   Doing so may result in some people running programs (which worked for the original poster, but) which are NOT really appropriate for their problem/system.   For that reason, I think the forum might have been removed.

If I may offer my  ideas about this matter.

I see that a post that I made 3 1/2 weeks ago is still on the second page.

It might be that there is no longer much use being made of this forum.

The last time I had a problem &  posted, there were several pages a day happening.

Which is a shame, because this is where I learned & formed most of my ideas about computer security.

Of course I might be a  part of the problem with this forum, I used to check in daily, to see what I could learn & to see what issues

people were having with their systems. But as my life changes I now longer visited as much, so little I might check in every couple months or so.

Just my 0.02 worth, guess I will go over to the MBAM forums & register, just in case I have a problem  or just to stay up on whats happing

So long to some great people, I will see most of you on MBAM

Thanks for all the help over the years

Bob

So long to some great people,
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait!  The MR forum may be gone, but we're still here! We were off for two weeks in order to attend meetings. Feel free to post your logs in this forum. We'll take them and what cannot be done here we'll handle elsewhere with you.

Thanks Bugbatter, for answering a question I was about to ask. Like several others, I have learned a lot from just reading about various issues in these forums, especially this one. You and any other knowledgeable user/analysts  who care to contribute to resolving security and spyware problems and working on the logs here will be very much appreciated. Hopefully you won't be overwhelmed with logs once the word gets out.
