Winfix, amaena.com pop-ups
I've been wondering what to do about this, scanned with nod, avast and adaware and they found some stuff but apparently not all of it. The problem is I'm getting random pop-ups out of nowhere, linking to winfix, musictv.com and amaena.com. This wouldn't be that bad if I weren't also getting random slowdowns when booting up windows and opening files...
Here's the HJT log:

1. Copy and paste the following into NotePad (Not Wordpad)
- sc stop DomainService
Click File ->> Save as ->>type in cmd.batsc delete DomainService
- Under "Save as type" Select " all files" ->>Save it to your Desktop
2. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.Close Notepad
The cmd.bat file should now appear on your Desktop (if it saved properly it should appear as a blue box with a gear in the middle of it)
Double Click that file (It will appear that nothing has happened, but that's o.k.)
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

You are most welcome
Good job so far, still have a few things to do.
1. We need to make sure we can see hidden files and folders
To enable the viewing of Hidden and System files follow these steps:
- Right click on Start and select Explore.
2. I need you to help us out with some research on a suspicious fileSelect the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
After the new window appears select the View tab.
Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
Click Yes To confirm
Press the Apply button and then the OK button.
Please go HERE
Put Your Name, and Dell HJT forum
and In the file to submit box, click Browse.Using Windows Explorer
- (Right click on "Start," select "Explore," and you will see the "tree' of file folders in the left side of the window. Click on the "+" next to any folder name to expand its contents)
Locate the file- C:\WINDOWS\system32\dsgbm.exe
In the comments tell them that I asked you to upload the fileThen Select Send File.
Once done, please reply that you have uploaded the file. Thanks

I checked the quarantine logs of spyware doctor and ad-aware and couldn't find any mention of it.
I did another HJT scan and sure enough, it still seems to show up (but with that "file missing" attribute next to it).
Is there any other way to find out if it still exists?
PS: new HJT log

Thanks for looking. It's bad, I was just hoping to get a sample of it.
1. Copy and paste the following into NotePad (Not Wordpad)
- sc stop "AFSEGTGF Windows Service"
Click File ->> Save as ->>type in cmd.batsc delete "AFSEGTGF Windows Service"
Close Notepad
The cmd.bat file should now appear on your Desktop (if it saved properly it should appear as a blue box with a gear in the middle of it)
Double Click that file (It will appear that nothing has happened, but that's o.k.)
2. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place a check beside the following entry
- O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4E4DE68F-4140-418F-8F2C-57C775C93A29} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkhh.dll (file missing)
Close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select " Fix checked"Close Hijackthis ->> Reboot your PC ->> Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log

No problem.
1. *NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!
Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.
- Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
- Select your language and click OK, then next.
- Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
- Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
- Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
- On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
- If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
- Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced." deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
- Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
- Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
- After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

Glad to hear it
You may now remove/delete/uninstall the tools we used to clean your PC
Now that your log is clean
There are some final notes:
Disable and Enable System Restore
the instructions are here
Make your Internet Explorer more secure
This can be done by following these simple instructions:
- Open Internet Explorer click Tools->> Options.
Update your Anti Virus SoftwareClick Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click Custom Level.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
When all these settings have been made, click OK.
If it prompts you to save the settings, press Yes.
Next press Apply and then OK to exit the Internet Properties page
Use and maintain a Firewall such as ZoneAlarm
- The Windows Firewall is good at blocking incoming threats, but not outgoing threats such as "Backdoor Trojans"
Install IE SPYAD for protection against innocent looking websites that are not innocentSome others are
Sygate
And
Sunbelt personal
All of which are free
Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently for critical updates
Backup your Important Documents and Files on a regular basis
- To a disc or a USB key, not your Hardrive
