Question

Pest Trap under wifes name on my computer.  One problem in solving this matter is that IE sheild will not let me download Hijack this so I can post a log on here can anyone cirtified as u can tell im not help me.  Please donot respond unless you have passed hijack this and malware training tu

i'm not really 'trained' to work with hijackthis logs, but as i see you hadn't posted any. but i can suggest you to try pesttrap remove at first and come back if it's still there.

Is HijackThis the only thing you cannot download? We have several tools that can fix your problem, but will you be able to download them?
What version of IE are you using that is using the shield feature?

I talked to dell rep advised me to download windows defender but I already have charter security suite wont that cause some problems running two security paltforms at the same time.He also stated that I may have to reinstall windows is this true ? Some one please help

Exactly what error message are you getting when you try to download something?

What application is this "IE sheild" a component of? Is it coming from something in your Charter Security Suite that is blocking downloads? If so, it cannot tell between good downloads and bad ones, so try disabling your anti-spyware or whatever that is coming from just long enough to download HijackThis.

Windows Defender will run along with your anti-virus. However, your Charter Security Suite already has anti-virus, anti-spyware, and rootkit detection. Charter is an ISP. Do you know which vendor distributes those programs to Charter? (Computer Associates? McAfee? Trendmicro?) Charter may be able to tell you if you call them.

I turnned off the spy and virus and it worked I got hijack this thank u so much now if i can just do the  other halfe
