How to configure cache usage alert in VMAX ..?
Can you tell hwo to confiure the automatic alert for the VMAX Cache memory utilization , like if it crosses 70% of threshold value it should generate a n alert ..?
Please let me know where we can configure this alert ...ECC or SPA ..?
Recently we had an issue with cache utilization went to 100% and caused the performance issue ....due to this my mgmt had asked to configure the monitoring alert for Cache utilizaion on that array...

Wasn’t 70% the absolute maximum at which forced flushing would start?

I assume this is for WP counts. I would set that alert at 60%.

I don't see the COnfiguer Alert & Emain Notification under ==>Tasks ==>Monitoring ==>Alert Configuration.
I can see only below three :
Config Pool Utilization thresholds
Enable/Disable Alerts
Configure DSE Spill Threshold....

Yes, you need to configure email alerts from SMC first:
1) Open SMC console. Go to task. Click on configure alerts and email notifications.
2) Click on Change email notification button.
3) Click on config email server
4) Enter the following information:
Sender email:@emc.com
Email Address From : sender_email id@emc.com
Receiver/To Email address :
SMTP Server : and port 25
5) Make sure your SMC host is added on the mail server for open relay otherwise mails sent from this host will be blocked by your mail server.
6) check if test email works fine. If yes then configure email notification in SPA's threshold and alert window. Below snapshot is from the SPA online help document.

The Symm has low priority destage at 50% of writable cache (40%) total. If you are above this, you are in high priority destage. Once you hit the system max WP limit, you are in real trouble. You don't really want to be there, which is why you want the threshold above the high priority water mark and below the system max WP limit.

i guess email alert notification was introduced in 7.3.x version. You might want to read the release notes.
