expanding rdm lun

i need to expand a rdm lun. it is currently mapped to the vm. when i go to unisphere, i created another new lun from the same raid group. then ran the expand wizard on the old lun, but it did not see any luns to expand to.

any idea?

striped or concat. neither one brings up the new lun i created as an available lun.

I am trying to use the migrate wizard instead

    but got this

The destination LUN is larger than the source. Performing this operation will increase the size of your LUN. Please verify that any hosts attached to this volume can handle dynamic changes to volume size.

    source lun is 50gb

    destination lun is 150gb

don't know of another way to migrate to larger LUN, MetaLUN should work. Use concat and the target LUN should be availabe in the list.

what kind of expansion are you trying to do ? It's not recommended to do an striped expansion where component LUNs reside in the same raid group.

the migration takes too long. is there a better way to migrate a 50gb rdm lun to a 150gb rdm lun?

Another way could be create a new larger lun, attach to server and then use EMcopy to perform a file level copy or OpenMigrator to perform a volume level copy (in the end you have to expand the volume).

They have to be the same number of blocks.

    when i create lun1 from rg1 and a lun2 from rg2.

then i try to expand lun1, concat shows lun2 available, but striping does not show lun2 available.

    why is that?
