R940 ESXi 8.0 and TPM

I am trying to configure R940 running ESXi 8 for a test environment for Win 11 and future TPM aware Server OS.

Our R940 is current with firmware for all devices and bios (2.17.1) and is listed on the VMWARE compatibility list.

The R940 was shipped originally with a TPM 1.2 module, but I have switched this out for a new 2.0 module.

After installing 2.0 module I have done a clean build using the Dell ESXi 8 ISO.

Everything is showing correctly in Bios and the TPM module when queried is showing in ESXi Shell as present and the Host is secure boot fine.

The issue I have is the Host is not offering TPM as hardware for the virtual machines I subsequently create. Thus Windows 11 failing to install.

I am aware there is a method of installing virtual TPM using vCenter but this is not an option (or what we are trying to do) and unless I have misunderstood the documentation, TPM hardware on the HOST should allow VM ability to utilise directly.

Has anyone else setup ESXi 8 on an R940 and got TPM working for VM.
