CX3-80 Both SPS's failed replacement possible while online?
We have a CX3-80 that is currently going to be retired. Recently the 2nd SPS failed and we are still several weeks, more likely a month, away from being completely moved off of the storage.
I've contacted time and materials and gotten a quote for replacement of the two failed SPS hardware and a tech to perform the operation.
My questions to you learned users is this:
Previously we replaced failed SPS units while the device was online. The replacement did not take very long and everything kept humming along quite nicely.
However now we are in a state where both SPS are failed, does that change the replacement operation? Will we have to offline the SAN storage completely or can we replace one SPS and then the other and keep the storage running in its write cache disabled mode until both SPS are replaced and we can re-enable the cache?

Have you replaced the SPS ?
If not, you will have to see what failure is there with these SPSs. If both the batteries are providing power to your power supplies, you can replace SPS one by one without downtime.
If only one is giving power, you may replace the other (which is completely down) and once the new SPS becomes fully charged, you can replace the second. Write cache gets automatically enabled once the system is healthy.
You will have to take ultimate care while replacement, to avoid unplanned downtime. If you can take a downtime for replacements I would suggest going for that.
