Determine data skew

Hi All,

I wanna ask about the data skew, so I have a customer using VNX 5500 and they have a SAP LUN. The SAP LUN generates iops almost 90% from whole VNX iops. Can this is categorized as skewness? or skewness just per LUN basis? . Is EMC have any tools for determine data skew per LUN? maybe like LUN chunks monitoring?. I using Analyzer Helper but can't find about chunks monitoring. Thank you

    Hi,

if one LUN make 90% of your Systems total IOPS, than your Skew is round about 90% of your IOPS out of the Amount of Space that your LUN Provides. If you are a Partner, just send in the NAR Files within Mitrend to get some Basic Analytics.

I think there should be a way to analyze the Sub LUN Data, i think you can try to ask an EMC Speed Guru about this.

Really good sub-LAN analysis needs more info that than what’s present in the NAR file

You basically need a log of each I/Os block address – called RBA traces
