Yes, you cannot change the SP for an iSCSI server once created.

My best recommendation if you have a ESX/Hyper-V environment would be:

Create a datastore on new iscsi server on the desired SP and give acess to the host's where the VM's are running on the old datastore and  do a VMotion/LiveMigration of the Virtual machines from the old datastore to the new one and delete the old datastore and also the iSCSI server and this do not require any downtime.

Hi,

I am sorry you cannot move the data on SPA to SPB.

You can do the following:

    • Create a replication from SPA to SPB and then reverse after it is sync.

    • Create a CIFS server on SPB and then connect all the shares from SPA and SPB to a server and then copy them using robocopy or EMCopy(host side migration)

Thanks,

Hi,

I assume this limitation is true for iscsi server datastores as well. It would be nice if they could be reassigned.

Hi Charles, The functionality you'd like to see is one we see as a need as well. At this time the recommendations above are the best options. Your input is appreciated - I'll be sure to use your comments when asked about customer priorities.

Cheers,
Matt
