On a related note to this chain, I am trying to install USM version 1.3.3.1.0072-1 32-bit. I have the latest versions of Java 7(75) and Java 8(31) . During the install, I receive the following error:
The version listed above is no longer supported by Oracle and version 7 will be end of life in April, 2015. When will we either support version 8 and/or stop the dependency on Java versions?
I was able to get v1.3.3.1.0072 of USM to run by removing Java 8 completely and reinstalling Java 7 Update 75. Java may try an auto upgrade to version 8, so be careful of that. It did not work for me when I had both versions installed, but your mileage may vary.
Hopefully a version of USM that is compatible with Java 8 will be available before Java 7 goes end of support.
Good news everyone, with the release of USM for Windows 1.3.6.1.0096, Java 8 now works. I tested by removing Java 7 entirely and installing Java 8 Update 40 and I was able to process SP collects without it getting all explody and what not. Also, for the sake of science, I completely uninstalled USM and reinstalled without issue.
It should be noted that upgrading the Java 8 may still cause issues accessing Unisphere if your array is not running the latest OE release. Download Jave 7 Update 75 before April 2015 to be safe.
