Mark a folder as a shared
Hi,
I have a VNX 5500 and would like to know whether it is possible to mark the folder when it is shared.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

you can't do that on VNX (nor can't you do that on Window with a mapped network drive). I try to stay way from nested shares but sometimes you don't have a choice and do that, you just need to educate your users or simplify your directory structure.

We have a windows active directory and whatever domain user can have mapped shared folders or not. I would like the could know when a folder is a shared folder or not. Sometimes it has happened that a user has changed the name of a folder without knowing that it was shared. Once the name has been change nobody can enter in the folder.
So my question is if it is possible from vnx (CIFS Shares) give a mark of something similar to the folder in order that the users know that the folder is shared
Thanks.

Set the permissions so that people who dont know what they are doing arent allowed to change these directories

The permissions are correct although I would like to show when the folder is shared.
Thanks for your advice.

Then you need to ask Microsoft to change the CIFS protocol to make it possible
