mirror server boot disk to VNX7500
Hi,
My customer bought some very expensive IBM servers that will be running Hyper V, unfortunately for them the servers have one internal boot drive.
Can we mirror the internal boot drive to the VNX?
Is anyone doing this? What are the pros & cons?

i would not, it's probably not supported by EMC nor IBM and will be hard to troubleshoot if issues come up. Have you considered boot from SAN ?

We've discussed boot from SAN, however there're concerns - could a FLARE upgrade cause a host to momentarily lose access to the OS on the VNX. Any issue of this kind will cause ALL servers to go down.
I will follow up on the support concern that you raised.
Thanks

if you are using multipathing software you should not experience any outage during routine FLARE upgrade or SP issues. Take a look at host connectivity guide for more details

It seems like the proper SAN layout. (dual fabric) and path managment software on the hosts can address any failures in the path to a SAN-based boot LUN.
Thanks for that.
I'm guessing the FLARE is upgraded one SP at a time? Thanks so much for you time.
