RAID 5 Usable disk capacity
Hi All,
What is the usable disk capacity if I'm going for RAID 5 with 5+1 configuration, total disks are 12 (5+1+5+1=12). The raw capacity of 1 Disk is 1.2 TB SAS 10K rpm?

i don't know what you are planning to do with that extra drive but 1.2TB drive in 5+1 R5 will give you 5251.95GB usable capacity.

Thank You.
Could you please confirm it to me when EMC ships 5200, will the Vault Drives (first 4 with DPE) be already configured or do we have to configure it...? If we have to, can we use RAID 3 or RAID 5 ?
Thanks

Part of the vault drives (300GB in VNX2) is already used by the OS – the remainder is unbound

my 5600 was shipped with 300G drives, OE is pre-installed.

if the vault drives are 300G you will have no space to create any other LUNs, all taken by the VNX operating system. If they are bigger drives you will be able to create a RG (i don't know about RAID-3).

Does this mean that EMC ships DPE with 0-3 Vault Drives (VNX-5200) pre-configured, specially for OE ? Can rest of the space be used ?
