SnapSure / SavVol Question

I have a customer with a large filesystem and I've found a question that doesn't seem to be answered in any of the support or training materials I have. The question is - Does the savvol count towards the 16TB filesystem size limitation.

Also, is there an EMC official equation for calculating the SavVol size based on the snapshot frequency and rate of change to give a required length of snapshot retention? Everything I've found so far states the memory requirements, but not the capacity requirements.
