Started proactive drive copy to hot spare, progress never changes?

I started a proactive drive copy to a hot spare so I can replace a NLSAS drive that is throwing media errors.  When I ran the command to start the copy from the CLI, the below progress indicators appeared, and haven't changed since.  That was over 12 hours ago.

How do I tell what is going on/has anyone encountered this problem?

Not sure why a moderator hasn't approved this yet.  Makes it difficult to make progress.

Regardless, the proactive copy completed after 19 hours (NLSAS 2tb).  I was unable to view progress indicators of any kind during the time, so if anyone has any idea on how to do that I would appreciate the information.

I logged the experience including screenshots here: extremesanity.com » Proactive copy to hot spare on EMC VNX array

You should be able to check the progress of the rebuild via naviseccli.  Once you activate the proactive copy, you can find the destination disk.  naviseccli getdisk should show the progress of the rebuild.

Let us know if that helps!

Why are all my posts being moderated now when before they weren't?

This is a proactive copy, not a rebuild.  This is where I think everyone (the tech, internet forums) keep getting confused.

I spent a massive amount of time researching this, and the only place I could find status indicators were within spcollects:

Nothing deliberate there – just automatic routines to prevent spam

I guess your external links have triggered them
