Unisphere - Select certificate issue

Hi all,

Since a few weeks I suffer issues in connecting to VNX systems at different customers. Many times my Java GUI does not load. Also frequently unable to access http://IP/setup pages (non-Java).

After a couple of hours I have some findings:

  1. The issue only occurs with VNX systems both in Unified and block-only configurations. Issue observed with various Flare32 releases. Not yet tested with Flare33 systems.
  2. Connecting to Unisphere on CX4 systems is not affected
  3. The issue seems related to the fact that on my Windows7 64bit laptop a personal Certificate is installed with a purpose of "Client Authentication", this certificate is related to Microsoft Lync services.
  4. Everytime I connect to a VNX using IE or Chrome a "Select Certificate" popup is displayed where I only have the option to select the Lync certificate or cancel. See attached picture.
  5. The Select Certificate seems not related at all with if a valid SSL certificate is installed on the VNX. It's in fact not a security error or warning.

Within the EMC kb I cannot find any corresponding issues. In applications of other vendors the "Select Certificate"  prompt is often described as a application issue which is fixed at application level. In my case this sounds like a fix within the Unisphere app/webserver is needed.

Anybody else has similar issues?

I encountered the same issue after I installed the certificate in my Outlook.

Select "Cancel" then you should be able to get into the Unisphere GUI.

Sometimes cancel helps, but not always. Seeing issues now also with RP GUI never fully loading...
