user mapping - mixed but separate environments

So I am looking over the user mapping documentation and want to get clarification.  I am new the VNX File side.  I want to have cifs shares pointing to an AD only and nfs shares pointing to a separate ldap only.  They are not synced.  I do not intend for the same data/volumes to be accessed by both.

Can I just use the usermapper for the cifs stuff and use an ldap config for the nfs side?

Hi,

if you do not intend to do multi-protocol access to the SAME file system then you don’t have to bother with multi-protocol configuration.

You can just use the default usermapper and NATIVE access policy

No need for user mapping via LDAP there either

Basically then the VNX will keep both CIFS and NFS ownership and permissions but you don’t care how they are mapped since per file system you only access them via one protocol.

I would suggest to try it on a test system or a Simulator.
