VNX and Broadcom FCoE problem
HP in their infinite wisdom have started using Broadcom in their new Gen 8 servers instead of Emulex for their converged network adapters.
We have a large number of Emulex servers talking FCoE to our VNX through a couple of Nexus 5000 and B22 chassis FEXs, These all work perfectly. However the one new server we have that as a Broadcom LOM cannot be seen by the VNX at all.
The Nexus picks it up OK and as far as I now it is configured the same as the other servers, there is data registered as being transmited and received but it refuses to show up on the VNX and I have no idea why.
Has anyone got any suggestions as to where I need to look to see if i can get these two talking?
I have restarted the management interfaces on the VNX, installed and reinstalled the Host Agent, rebooted the server several times all to no avail.
The only odd thing I have noticed is that all the Emulex have a WWPN that starts with a 10 and WWNN that starts with a 20, but the Broadcom is the other way round, the PN starts with a 20 and NN starts with a 10.
