VNX-for-File soft/hard quota limits
From Windows Explorer , after setting up the quota limits for a cifs share, I can see as available space the HARD limit.
Is there any way to show the SOFT limit insted?
Thanks

Hi,
We started looking at using tree quotas for some NFS shares on a VNX running 7.1.79-8 code and from the NFS client perspective, neither the hard or soft limits are seen, only the available/used space of the root FS. Is this by design or am I missing something? The policy is set to block and it does limit according to the setting, it just doesn't reflect it back to the client so they cannot tell how much is really free or not.
On our Isilons the hard limit values are seen by the clients, but this is our first poke into this area on the VNXs, so I don't know what should be expected.
thanks!

There is a VNX parameter that controls that behavior, "useQuotainFsStat"
Comments/description
Controls whether quotas are included when displaying file system free-space statistics to NFS clients that use the UNIX df -k command to view statistics.
0 = Exclude quotas when a disk quota verification is done by using df. The actual available space can be less than the "space available" shown in the command output.
1 = Include quotas. The df command run by a nonroot user reports only the space available to the user. This means the space available" displays factors in the space that are preallotted to quota trees, users, and groups. rquota is not supported for tree quotas.
The default is "0", meaning df ignores quotas. Turning it on allows users to see their space utilization for user/group or tree quotas.
You can find more information in the EMC Document, "Parameters Guide for VNX for File".
Let us know if that helps!

Yes, that was what I was looking for. I found it hard to believe it wasn't there by default, but oh well. Thanks Karl!
