Statistics logging is the feature that has to be turned on for the array to gather the data for the NAR file. Once this is turned on you can pull the NAR file (used for perfomance analysis)using the GUI or the SecureCLI.
To enable the same you need to go to the properties and in the general tab you can enable the same by assigning check in the statistics logging box.Right-click on the array again, go to Analyzer and select Data Logging.
If you want to start it via CLI you can navigate to :
If you disable the Statistics Logging then the only thing that will happen is Data Logging options will be disabled for you, inturn you will not be able to get the NAR files.
Each storage processor (SP) maintains a log of statistics for the LUNs, disks, and storage-system caching. You can turn this log on or off. Statistics logging affects storage-system performance, so you may want to leave it off unless you have a reason to monitor performance. The statistics log uses a 32-bit counter to maintain the statistics, so when the counter is full, the statistics restart at zero. As a result, you will see a sudden decrease in a statistic if you view it shortly before the counter is full and shortly after the counter restarts at zero. If you want to keep the log turned on for more than two weeks, you should reset the log about every two weeks, so you know when the statistics start at zero.

So as I understand it is used ONLY for perfomance analysis, not for troubleshouting, isn`t it? Our support always ask us for SPcollects for hardware diagnostics and drive replacement. If I disable Statistics Logging, will SPcollects generate properly?
Suman, you said about 32 bit counter. Is it mean that the log able to contain 2^32 entries?
Keep in mind, while it is required for Analyzer Data Logging as everyone has mentioned, enabling Statistics Logging also allows for various real-time statistics scattered throughout the Unisphere Interface.
For instance, if you enable Statistics Logging, you can then right-click on an SP and get various metrics such as % Utilization, Write Throughput, etc. as follows:

I hope you are doing well….

Hi Alex,
It is only one 32-bit counter…..

For instance, if you enable Statistics Logging, you can then right-click on an SP and get various metrics such as % Utilization, Write Throughput, etc. as follows:
1) System -> Storage Hardware
2) Expand "SPs" -> right-click on "SP A/B"
3) Select the "Statistics" tab
If you uncheck it, it will show as "Unavailable".
