Dell Vostro 3590 can`t boot from USB SSD
After installation of Win 10 Pro I made a copy of it (clone) to external USB SSD planning to have two different software sets on same notebook. But it can`t boot from USB even when Security Boot is turned off. There is no problem with SSD because I have used two different and tested devices, but with same identical problem.
When boot starts from external device after some time blue screen appears with message "external device stopped responding".
Dell Vostro 3590 Intel Core i5-10210U(6MB, 4.2 GHz), 15.6" FHD (1920x1080), 8GB DDR4 2666MHz, 256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe, AMD Radeon 610 2GB, DVDRW, WiFi, BT

Problem solved.
After I removed all the security protections in the BIOS, the boot from the external SSD was successful. Even a cloned image of the old disk converted from MBR / Legacy to GPT / UEFI mode works without problems.

It depends on what you're trying to boot. Some OSes will boot from an external drive -- Windows will not.

Yes, Win 10 can do it.
On my other notebooks (with legacy BIOS) it works without a problem. I also use that system for servicing, data recovering, back-up and system restoring purposes on other devices and found it as great help in every day work. Occasionally boot crashes on some computers, however, after repair procedure it mostly works fine.

P.S.
As an example, just a few minutes ago I have boot up (from USB SSD) complete Windows 10 system copied from my friends PC fast, easy and without any problem. And did it on my ancient, beloved Lenovo X61.
My Dell Vostro obviously have some new and hidden security glitch in BIOS, something that I can`t find and disable.

Welcome to the Dell Community @KikiMiki
We use W2G W10 USB drives at the warehouse.
What are you using???
One of the tech's found that other USB drives will work that are not Certified.
Best regards,

J-Micron and Transcend USB 3.0 external cases with Samsung Evo 850 1 TB or A-Data 630 240 GB.SSD.
By demand - Legacy or UEFI configuration (restoring Aomei preconfigured Win 10 image with universal restore option).
Everyday boots without a problem, except on Dell Vostro 3590.
