Most of those videos conveniently neglect to mention:

1.  The slot has nowhere near the bandwidth needed for a GPU, so it winds up throttling to a fraction of the bandwidth (and speed) you expect.

2. There's no way to close up the system with one of these devices installed;  your notebook becomes a collection of parts that resembles a disassembled desktop.

3. These only work with external monitors - not the internal display panel (which partially answers your question).

The same advice always applies:  if you want the performance of a better GPU, buy a desktop system.  That's what you'll end up with anyway once you install one of these hack eGPUs.  The only practical use for them is on systems with high-bandwidth ports (Thunderbolt).  They make no sense for anything else.

You can’t connect an eGPU with an HDMI adapter. HDMI is used for connecting a GPU to a display, not for connecting a system to a GPU. mPCIe and NGFF slots do not directly support HDMI video output anyway. Those adapter cables would be designed to be paired with specific motherboard types that have a way for a GPU on the motherboard to send an HDMI video signal to that slot. But an eGPU needs a PCI Express interface with the system, not an HDMI connection. In terms of whether you need mPCIe or NGFF, you would have to check the documentation of your system, which you can find on Dell Support. You will probably have to remove your WiFi card since most systems do not have an extra mPCIe or NGFF slot.

well if you don't know what connecting with pcie method is let me explain, the HDMI cable connects to the PCI express adapter, then the gpu sits in that adapter and we also use PSU to power up the gpu, so signal is sent from PCI express adapter to HDMI and then to NGFF or Mini pcie, you can just watch it on yt
