Headphone static noise only when audio is playing
Hi, my vostro 7500 has static through the headphones when audio is playing. Also when I pause and then restart the audio, there will be a crackle. I have updated all the drivers, BIOS, everything and this problem has not gone away. I have also attempted to use the native drivers, but there were no native drivers on this laptop so that solution was useless. What can I do?
Using a different headphone seems to work. Originally I was using my earphones and switching to a set of headphones has removed the static. Is this a hardware issue related to driving impedance? The earphones do work on every other device though.

Thanks to Supriya at Dell support my problem is fixed. Turns out it was a driver problem. Re-installing the driver fixed it.

For the last few weeks I've had the same loud static noise on my Dell Vostro 7500 when using the headphone jack, whether I'm streaming online or playing something from my hard drive, and no matter what headphones I use. Speaker works fine. Uninstalling / reinstalling drivers did not help. Did notice several Realtek and Waves driver updates on 11/05/2020 and 11/18/2020 that could be related to the headphone jack issue. Hopefully this is not a hardware issue. Solutions?

I have a similar problem with my Vostro 3400. There was no problem until a couple of days ago. I have used the headphone audio jack through an O2 headphone amplifier into a set of Bose QC 15 noise cancelling headphones. Up until two days ago there was essentially zero noise. Even with the O2 turned way up zero noise. Now suddenly there is AWEFUL huge volume white noise on the headphone jack. No noise on the internal speakers but the headphone jack has become useless.
I can't tell if the noise is correlated to CPU activity. There is some modulation floating around in there. It can sound like sirens squealing but the white noise dominates.
I wonder if the recent BIOS upgrade that happened about this time might have something to do with it?

Another issue that can occur is that the audio port of your playback device is the one causing the static noise. ... If you've cleaned the device's aux port but still hear the static noise, you can always try cleaning the audio jack of your headphones as well until the problem is resolved.
